This week’s activity

A message from the European HIV-Hepatitis Testing Week Working Group to all of the Testing Week signatories:

Advancing safe and voluntary testing for key and most affected populations together with combination prevention and prompt linkage to care

The European HIV–Hepatitis Testing Week initiative (ETW) aims to ensure access to effective, comprehensive, rights-based, safe, anonymous and voluntary HIV and Hepatitis testing for everyone in order to promote early diagnosis and linkage to care. It underlines that increased efforts are needed to overcome the obstacles that many people from key and most affected populations still face in accessing services.

In that context, we would like to bring to your attention a joint statement (available in six different languages) from an informal alliance of key and most affected population and regional groups and networks. This statement emphasises the importance of developing testing goals that take into consideration and address the obstacles many people face in trying to access safe and voluntary testing, combination prevention and linkage to care.

We encourage you to review these goals and commit yourselves to working with key and most affected populations in your locale to achieve them.

We also encourage review of the ETW fact sheets #9 and #10 that were developed with key population advocates, which provide guidance for working with key populations groups.
